Carley Corporation Wins Second US Navy Delivery Order on NAVAIR Orlando’s Training Systems Contract (TSC) II Contract.

Orlando, Florida, July 19, 2004 - Carley Corporation announced today their second win under the US Navy’s Training Systems Contract (TSC) II Contract. Carley Corporation was awarded the prime contract for the development of fourteen (14) different PC-based simulations (SIMs) for NAVAIR’s Aviation Maintenance community. Being developed for the Navy Aviation Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola, these SIMs will replace the hardware trainers that are currently being used as part of the NATTC formal training.

Trainers being replaced include those that address aviation subsystems such as hydraulics, radar, fuel quantity, flaps and landing gear, electrical subsystems, and several others. All functionality that is available on the current trainers will be available in a software-based simulation that will run on a dual-monitor student station. These new SIMs will be able to be delivered over the web. They will be SCORM conformant, and student progress data will be able to be stored in the Navy’s Thinq LMS.

These SIMs are based on state-of-the-art software design, and advanced logic in building software-only trainers that appeal to the “MTV” generation of new Navy students. Using a mouse, the student can go to virtually any location within an aircraft to perform maintenance and fault isolation. The PC SIMs include “free-play”, random fault insertion controlled by the instructor, and the ability to incorporate foreign object detection (FOD).

This $13M contract was awarded under NAVAIR’s TSC II Lot II full and open competition. The contract also includes installation of Advanced Electronic Classrooms and development of web-based training (WBT). Carley’s subcontractors include Camber and CSC.
