March 20, 2007 - Carley Corporation Selected to Develop Interactive Multimedia Instruction for the Submarine Learning Center under the Naval Sea Systems Command.
Orlando Florida, March 20, 2007 - Carley Corporation announced today a contract award under the Navy’s Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) acquisition program for the Submarine Learning Center (SLC), in New London, CT. The NUWC awarded the Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (ID/IQ) contract for the development of training modules for Submarine On-Board Training (SOBT). These courses will educate and train personnel in basic, advanced, and specialized technical and military skills in the doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures to operate submarine combat systems, sub-systems and equipment in order to meet the missions of the U.S. Navy.
The SOBT training catalog is a collection of over 500 training products comprised of 1) Interactive Multi-media Instructional (IMI) software, or Interactive Courseware (ICW), 2) State-of-the-Art Simulation, and 3) 8mm videos. Many training products are developed using the latest technologies: 1) HTML design & web-enabled, 2) fully developed Computer Managed Instruction (CMI) and 3) Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) conformant. The SOBT and SLC programs are an integral part of the Naval Submarine School.
The government estimates that $27 million of services will be procured via orders issued under this ID/IQ contract over the next three years. Carley is one of only three awardees under this contract. Other awardees are EG&G Technical Services Inc. and Long Wave Inc.
